At Avecinna Academy we place great emphasis on character education and see it as an integral part of the school fabric in our daily practices. We follow both traditional and innovative approaches to character development. Our aim is to create a Centre of Excellence<\/i> through developing our students into righteous and balanced citizens who: are mindful of the Creator; enjoin in all that is good and oppose all that is harmful, with exemplary etiquettes and manners; reach the highest academic standards; and contribute towards a just and better society.<\/p>\n

We aim to provide a broad education to enable our boys to discover their strengths and to make the most of their talents within Avecinna and beyond. The school is committed to promoting the best habits of independent thought and learning, to engendering respect for individuality as well as the importance of teamwork, and to supporting pastoral care that nurtures spiritual richness, emotional maturity and physical health. By the time he leaves school, we want each boy to have a true sense of self-worth which will enable him to stand up for himself and for a purpose greater than himself, and in doing so, to be of value to society.<\/p>\n

Character development is a core part of the curriculum at Avecinna Academy and is essentially incorporated into the taught disciplines across Key Stages 3 and 4. The guidance for instilling noble virtues in the child comes from the Qur\u2019an and the Sunnah with additional recommendations\/support from the University of Birmingham\u2019s specialist (research and development) department \u2013 the Jubilee Centre of Character and Virtues. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
